Looking to cover your science quickly and easily but with no extra time? No problem! This is the unit for you. This unit is designed to be a self-taught unit. The sheets are written in such a way that students can complete the questions independently and with little teacher interaction. However, lessons are included for teacher guidance with additional activities for every page. PDF pages can easily be put onto Smartboards to review and understand concepts.

This inquiry-based unit, which meets the Ontario Ministry of Education Science for Grade 6, provides a variety of activities meant to allow students to explore the concept of biodiversity.

This unit is over 50 pages of tasks for students! It includes writing tasks, anchor charts as well as culminating tasks and rubrics. This unit comes with absolutely everything you could use to run this science unit. It will also be growing over the next few weeks as I continue adding to it.

Also included are several interactive notebook activities to help students understand the various aspects of biodiversity and what they offer animals and people.

Activities include games to review, questioning techniques, language-based reading pages, writing tasks, video links, great resources to use to do the culminating tasks and the writing tasks (and anchor charts). Also included is a marking checklist for one of the inquiry activities that could easily be used for many group work activities. And wait there’s more! Included are illustrated word wall cards so students can review unfamiliar vocabulary terms, games to play with the vocabulary cards.

All text is written at a grade 5-6 text level with plenty of interesting pictures for students to enjoy. In addition, questions are similar to EQAO style questions so students can complete them and also be prepping for standardized testing! Following each informational page, there are questions and activities for students to complete.
